As the Purchase Area’s designated rape crisis and child advocacy center, PASAC provides comprehensive, trauma-informed services assisting child and adult survivors of sexual violence through the entire process from crisis through healing to long-term recovery. Our PASAC specialists engage in all phases of support to survivors and their family members by providing intervention services including 24-hour crisis hotline services, medical advocacy at local emergency rooms, legal and personal advocacy, information and referrals, clinical therapy services, and holistic health coaching. Our array of specialized services helps to reduce the impact of trauma experienced as a result of sexual violence by supporting and assisting survivors and their loves ones to define needs, explore options, understand reactions, and strengthen coping skills.
Our Child Advocacy Program is a community-based program in which professionals from many disciplines collaborate to offer comprehensive services for victims of child abuse and their families and to make decisions about the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child sexual abuse cases in order to reduce further trauma and victimization of children. PASAC offers a safe, child-friendly environment where child victims and their non-offending caregivers can access specialized forensic interviewing, medical exams and family advocacy services.
PASAC actively participates in Multidisciplinary Team efforts serving children and facilitates regional Sexual Assault Response Teams aimed at improving the primary response to all-aged victims of sexual violence as well as the community response to sexual violence. We work with other community professionals to improve the provision of services to survivors at the individual and systematic levels, including providing victim-sensitive and coordinated services, increasing the number of trained professionals in our area, and ensuring accurate evidence collection to promote the apprehension and prosecution of perpetrators.
In addition, PASAC provides Prevention Education Programming to both youth and adults in the community. Our Prevention Specialists provide child and adolescent programming aimed to reduce interpersonal violence and build healthy relationships by promoting safety, kindness, compassion, acceptance, and bystander empowerment. We also provide training for adults in the community designed to raise awareness and provide education on how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
