Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is a cognitive behavioral approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  With TF-CBT, the focus is on education, relaxation and coping skills, challenging negative beliefs that have developed about the trauma, and creating a cohesive trauma narrative.  For children, there is an emphasis on helping parents cope and understand children’s reactions and teaching parents techniques to assist children outside of therapy.
