The Purchase Area Sexual Assault & Child Advocacy Center (PASAC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing intervention services to victims of sexually-based crimes since 1987. As the regionally state-designated rape crisis and child advocacy center by Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, PASAC serves the eight Purchase Area counties of Western Kentucky and surrounding areas by providing free and confidential services to all-age survivors of sexual violence and their supportive family members. In addition, PASAC provides prevention education programming to children and adults in the community as well as specialized training to community partners.
The mission of the Purchase Area Sexual Assault & Child Advocacy Center is to promote the health and wellbeing of our community by reducing the impact and prevalence of sexual violence. We provide comprehensive, trauma-informed services assisting child and adult survivors of sexual violence through the entire process from crisis through healing to long-term recovery. Our PASAC specialists engage in all phases of support to survivors and their family members by providing intervention services including 24-hour crisis hotline services, medical advocacy at local emergency rooms, legal and personal advocacy, information and referrals, clinical therapy services, and holistic health coaching. Our array of specialized services helps to reduce the impact of trauma experienced as a result of sexual violence by supporting and assisting survivors and their loves ones to define needs, explore options, understand reactions, and strengthen coping skills.
Our Child Advocacy Program is a community-based program in which professionals from many disciplines collaborate to offer comprehensive services for victims of child abuse and their families and to make decisions about the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child sexual abuse cases in order to reduce further trauma and victimization of children. PASAC offers a safe, child-friendly environment where child victims and their non-offending caregivers can access specialized forensic interviewing, medical exams and family advocacy services.
In addition to coordinating Multidisciplinary Team efforts serving children, PASAC facilitates regional Sexual Assault Response Teams aimed at improving the primary response to all-aged victims of sexual violence as well as the community response to sexual violence. We work with other community professionals to improve the provision of services to survivors at the individual and systematic levels, including providing victim-sensitive and coordinated services, increasing the number of trained professionals in our area, and ensuring accurate evidence collection to promote the apprehension and prosecution of perpetrators.
