Explore our mission impact. In 2020-21, Lotus served 8.4% more survivors, children, and families than last year; 64.1% more than we served five years ago.

Our mission is to support survivors, strengthen families, and empower communities. At Lotus, we see the goal of recovery as not only surviving trauma, but also opening up to the possibilities of hope, healing, and growth. Committed to ending child abuse and sexual violence, we are working to cultivate a collective, unified community that meets survivors with compassion and a culture that simply does not tolerate interpersonal violence.

Children’s Advocacy Center

Our Children’s Advocacy Program is based on a multidisciplinary (MDT) approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse cases across the eight counties of the Purchase Region. In our child friendly settings, skilled professionals provide comprehensive services to help child abuse victims and their supportive family members through the entire process from crisis through long-term recovery.

Forensic Services

Our forensic interview team is trained to help children feel safe and comfortable as they begin talking about their experiences.

307 children and their families received forensic services.

Therapy & restorative services

Lotus delivers evidence-based mental health treatments to child victims of abuse and caregivers to reduce trauma symptoms and prevent the long-term effects of exposure to trauma.
179 children and their families received therapy and restorative services.

Advocacy & support

Advocates help victims and their caregivers navigate the legal system and make important decisions, and partner with caregivers to build protective factors.
505 children and their families received advocacy and support services.

Mission Impact


99.3% of caregivers reported that their child felt safe at Lotus.


88% of children and families reported reduced symptoms of traumatic stress.


Six Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) collaboratively supported safety, healing, and justice outcomes of 484 child abuse victims and their families. 

100% of caregivers reported a positive experience in the justice system.

Sexual Violence Resource Center

Our Sexual Violence Resource Center provides support and advocacy services to individuals of all ages who have been impacted by sexual abuse and assault. Advocates help survivors and their loved ones define needs, explore options, understand reactions, and strengthen coping skills.

Crisis Response

Survivors receive confidential support from a trained advocate to help them decide next steps toward healing and recovery, including Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFEs).

111 survivors in hospital emergency departments received medical advocacy services.

Therapy & restorative services

Survivors are met with a holistic approach to healing and wellness which includes therapeutic techniques and restorative practices addressing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual effects of an individual’s experience.

Advocacy & support

Lotus advocates provide information to help survivors understand medical and legal options and offer support through the process.
394 survivors and their loved ones received advocacy and support services.

97.3% of survivors in crisis reported that they were better able to cope after calling the Lotus 24-Hour Helpline.

Eight Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) collaboratively supported safety, healing, and justice outcomes of 106 survivors.
