Tax-Smart Giving

Give with Purpose. Give with Impact.

Tax-Smart Giving Opportunities for 2026

Your generosity builds safer communities. Thoughtful giving can make your impact even greater.

At Lotus, we believe every child, individual, and family deserves the opportunity to find hope, heal, and grow.

As Kentucky’s designated Children’s Advocacy Center and Sexual Violence Resource Center for the eight counties of the Purchase Area Region, Lotus provides essential services to children affected by abuse, neglect, or exposure to violence, as well as survivors of sexual violence and their families.

As you consider your year-end charitable giving, new tax provisions and established giving strategies may provide meaningful opportunities to support this important work.

New for 2026: A Charitable Deduction for More Donors

Beginning in 2026, eligible taxpayers who do not itemize deductions may qualify for a federal income tax deduction for cash gifts to qualifying charitable organizations.

  • Up to $1,000 for eligible individual filers.
  • Up to $2,000 for eligible married couples filing jointly.

This means that many donors who take the standard deduction may now receive a federal tax benefit for qualifying charitable gifts.

The deduction applies to eligible cash contributions, including gifts made online, by check, or by other monetary payment methods. It does not apply to gifts of stock or contributions to donor-advised funds.

The deduction limits apply to your combined qualifying charitable contributions, not separately to each organization.

Make your 2026 gift and help build safer communities.

Make a Lasting Impact Through Monthly Giving

Monthly giving is a meaningful way to provide consistent support for Lotus’s work throughout the year.

For donors considering the new charitable deduction, a gift of approximately $84 per month totals $1,008 annually, while $167 per month totals $2,004 annually.

These amounts illustrate ways to plan annual giving. Actual tax eligibility and benefits depend on individual circumstances, total qualifying gifts, and applicable IRS requirements.

Your ongoing support helps Lotus sustain specialized services, strengthen families, and advance prevention efforts throughout our region.
